Jane has spent her entire career in the education field ranging from Pre-K to adult. She has done it all: teacher, library lady, administrator and bus driver. She was also very active in the Chesterfield Jaycees for over 30 years including being an officer at both the state and local levels. Jane has a deep commitment to her family and her community.
Richard taught high school math and physics and dabbled in middle school mathematics. He used his engineering degree from VT to help students overcome mathematical obstacles before staying home to raise his three children. While staying home, he ran a successful small business. He is eager to put all of these talents together as director of operations and supervisor of the before and after school programs.
Lynn used her Animal and Poultry Sciences degree (hands on Biology) from Virginia Tech to teach middle school math and science for several years. Then she transferred her teaching skills to the world of banking, where she ran two offices. This venture allows her to combine her loves of working with children, teaching, and finances.
Katy has a Family and Consumer Sciences degree specializing in early childhood education from Bridgewater College, VA, which she initially used in the childcare field. She was the associate director of a local daycare before going into teaching herself. After 7 years working with special needs students and teaching Family and Consumer Sciences (the modern day Home Ec), she is eager to return to her roots. She will be working with our Pre-K students and directing all curriculum for Firefly.
Amy has a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Psychology from VCU. She is entering her 15th year working as a preschool educator in Powhatan. She will be working with our Pre-K students as a lead teacher. She thoroughly enjoys working with preschool aged children because of their innocence, honesty, humor, energy and love of learning.
